About Wishing Michhami Dukkadam in Jain Paryushan
After Paryushan Parv gets over, Jains usually greet each other by saying Michhami Dukkadam. Michhami Dukkadam, in simple language, means asking for forgiveness, whether or not, intentionally or unintentionally we have caused any trouble to any living forms on the earth. They may be plants, humans, animals, micro-organisms, insects, etc. The 8-days long festival also known as “Paryushan” is celebrated worldwide by the Jain people. Michhami Dukkadam is not just limited to Jain religion. It can be used in the form of saying sorry and asking for forgiveness in any religion.
It should also be seen that Jain Paryushan is not a Jain New Year. Paryushan is just a start of a new beginning.
