PSP Not Available In BHIM App Meaning: Here’s The Solution

What Is PSP In Banking?

A Payment Service Provider (PSP) means a technology service provider. In layman’s terms, a Payment Service Provider (PSP) is a technology platform in a UPI ecosystem that acts on behalf of banks to make or receive payments.

Sometimes users encounter a problem of “PSP Not Available” in the BHIM app or any UPI-based apps as shown in the picture below.

The latter half of screenshot shows “PSP NOT AVAILABLE.”

When you encounter “PSP Not Available”, you cannot perform normal bank functions such as

  • viewing bank balance
  • transfer of funds to other banks
  • transfer of funds to any UPI ID

Normal banking operations such as making payments for online transactions via UPI also come to a halt, e.g. payment in Amazon, Flipkart, etc. “PSP NOT AVAILABLE” error comes in the BHIM app, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm Amazon Pay, and many other popular UPI-supported apps.

What To Do If You Encounter “PSP Not Available” Error?

Solution 1: Clearing cache memory in mobile

In normal circumstances, there is nothing to worry about. All you have to do is wait for 5-10 minutes and clear the cache memory of your phone. Mostly the error does not recur and users can perform normal bank operations after clearing the cache.

Solution 2: Uninstall and reinstall the app

If there is still an error, you can uninstall the app and install it again to check if the PSP is now available or not. If the app still shows “PSP Not Available”, the only option left is solution number 3 below.

Solution 3: Contact customer support

If the error repeats, the problem could be due to

  • your bank or
  • your payment service provider (PSP)

In such cases, you can either contact a customer care or bank branch for the problem of “PSP NOT AVAILABLE.”

What Is UPI?

UPI or United Payments Interface is a platform that makes it easy for the users to make payments. There are multiple platforms available along with e-wallet that support UPI-based payments.

In UPI, you can transfer money either by inserting

  • bank account number and IFSC code;
  • phone number;
  • UPI ID
